Artist, storyteller, and creator of the illustrations for To the Little One I Love, Hermione Skye brings imagination, emotion, and wonder to every page she touches.
A Life of Creativity
Hermione Skye is a British-born alumna of Chelsea College of Arts & Design and Central Saint Martins. A multimedia artist whose work is collected internationally, Hermione has been creating since she was a child.
Growing up in the English countryside, she first realised she wanted to become an artist at the age of twelve, when her art teacher invited her to attend extra sessions, recognising her potential for an art scholarship — which she was awarded during that time.
An Artist Who Works Across Mediums
Having explored many different mediums, Hermione has found her newest sweet spot in combining textiles and paint.
She has created a number of large-scale installations using ropes and cords, often guided by mathematical principles such as the Fibonacci sequence.
Although her work can be highly technical and structured, her creative process is deeply intuitive and heart-led.
Where Life and Art Meet
In recent years, Hermione has come to understand that her life outside the studio is just as important to her art as the hours spent within it.
She believes in arriving at the studio fully present — where life and art merge.
Before she begins work, she often says a small prayer to the forces of love and light:
“This helps me remember that creativity is bigger than the individual.”
Hermione lives in Surrey, England, with her husband and baby.
This is her first children’s book.
When Victoria and Hermione decided to collaborate on To the Little One I Love, Victoria shared the visions she had for each page, and then Hermione brought the book to life.
Her instinct with color mixed with her exquisite illustrations, helped Victoria create a stunning children’s book destined to receive awards.
